About Me

Sleep deprivation broke me before it rebuilt me.

Hi, I’m Heather, a Certified Holistic Sleep Coach supporting families who want better sleep without leaving their babies to cry alone.

My approach is responsive, evidence-informed, and personalised — because every child, family, and parenting style is different.

I didn’t become a holistic sleep coach because babies were simply “my thing.”
I became one because I experienced the hardest side of sleep deprivation.

My first baby didn’t sleep longer than 30 minutes at a time. He cried constantly, and I barely slept. What I thought was normal newborn exhaustion quickly turned into something much deeper — postnatal depression, overwhelm, and a level of mental fog I never expected.

We tried everything. Reflux medication, specialists, sleep studies, public sleep programs, and private consultants.

Nine sleep trainers.

Most of the advice involved some version of “leave him to cry” — whether it was full cry-it-out or a gentler version of the same approach. I tried it, but every instinct in me said it wasn’t right. I felt torn between what I was told would “work” and what felt aligned as a mum.

Eventually, through research, lived experience, and years of learning, I discovered something important:

Sleep doesn’t have to mean separation. Support doesn’t create bad habits.
And children don’t need to be left alone to learn.

Five years later, when I had my second child, everything felt different. Not because she slept perfectly, but because I understood sleep through a developmental and attachment-focused lens. I knew how to respond without fear and gently guide sleep without forcing it.

That experience changed everything for me.

I realised there are so many parents silently struggling with exhaustion, guilt, and confusion — just like I was. Parents who want sleep, but not at the expense of connection.

That’s why I do this.

My approach is holistic, responsive, and deeply personalised. There are no generic PDFs or rigid schedules that ignore your child’s temperament. Every plan I create is tailored to your child, your family, and your values.

Because you don’t have to choose between rest and responsiveness.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

What is Holistic Sleep Training

Holistic sleep support goes beyond routines and sleep rules. It looks at the whole child and family, recognising that sleep is influenced by biology, development, sensory needs, relationships, mental health, daily life, and environment. Rather than using one-size-fits-all or behavioural approaches, holistic sleep coaching focuses on understanding the root causes of sleep challenges and supporting families in a gentle, responsive, evidence-based way.

I am professionally certified in Holistic Sleep Coaching (OCN Level 6) following advanced training with Dr Lyndsey Hookway. This qualification equips me with a research-based understanding of biological sleep, child development, and responsive care.
My approach is rooted in infant sleep science and responsive parenting. Rather than one-size-fits-all solutions, I work collaboratively with families to create realistic, nurturing sleep strategies that fit your child and your home environment.
